Lake LeAnn Kitchen Remodel: A Modern Open-Concept Design for Entertaining & Everyday Living

When this Lake LeAnn family in Brooklyn, Michigan reached out, their goal was clear: update a well-loved 1990s lake-house kitchen that no longer fit the way they live today. With their children now grown, the kitchen needed to support larger gatherings, multiple cooks, and easy entertaining, without losing the relaxed, light-filled feel that makes lake living special.

This project explores a complete kitchen remodel design, through photo-realistic 3D renderings and plans, to help our clients clearly envision the transformation for a more inclusive dialogue in design that encompasses all their goals.

Like many homes built in the 1990s, the original kitchen was compartmentalized, with limited prep space, dated storage solutions, and minimal connection to the rest of the home. While functional in its time, it no longer supported how this family uses the space—whether prepping snack trays for a day on the boat or mixing cocktails while friends gather nearby.

Our design approach focused on:

  • Improving workflow and prep space

  • Increasing storage capacity

  • Creating a seamless connection between the kitchen, living room, fireplace, and lake views

  • Designing for entertaining adults, not just everyday meals

An Open-Concept Kitchen with Views to the Lake

The new kitchen design embraces an open-concept layout, allowing sightlines to the lake, living room, and fireplace. Removing visual barriers immediately makes the space feel larger, brighter, and more connected—perfect for a lake house where the view is part of the experience.

A generous central island anchors the space, providing:

  • Expanded prep and work surfaces

  • Seating for casual meals and conversation

  • Room for multiple people to cook at once

Whether it’s coffee in the morning or appetizers before sunset, the island becomes the natural gathering place.

Photo-Realistic 3D Renderings & Plans

All design decisions were developed and refined using high-quality, photo-realistic 3D renderings and detailed plans. These visuals allow homeowners to confidently move forward, understanding how materials, lighting, cabinetry, and layout come together—long before construction begins.

For clients planning a kitchen remodel in Ann Arbor, the Irish Hills, or surrounding Southeast Michigan communities, this process provides clarity, reduces surprises, and supports smarter building decisions.
